Our Story

La Libélula Latin American Arts Cooperative was born from our desire to connect with other migrants from Latin America. While creating spaces for connection, we found ourselves asking key questions about Latin American communities in British Columbia: How many are we? Where are we? What do we do? What do we want? Who are we? What brings us together? What do we need?

One thing we know for certain is that these questions do not have simple or singular answers. Significant gaps exist in the information available about Latin American communities here, and many of our stories remain untold. Through La Libélula Cooperative, we seek to address these gaps by contributing to conversations about Latin American representation in British Columbia. With our strong sense of social justice and our commitment to art as a powerful tool for change, we work to increase visibility, inclusivity, and opportunity for Latin Americans through art workshops, exhibitions, and placemaking initiatives. Our goal is to create spaces where our voices, stories, and cultures can be seen, heard, and celebrated.
